Witchcraft will put a spell on you with their intense mix of nu metal and neo-Gothic hard rock.  They have an amazing sound with a dark side evoking an eerie presence as Liudmilla Angel leads with her vocals backed by a solid band that includes Kate Noir on violin and Vladimir on bass.  With a sound akin to Evenescence, Nightwish and Dream Theatre they will capture your soul with solid music you will be hooked on.  This is a band that deserves world wide attention yet are limited by the conditions that limit growth in the music business as is known in Moscow, Russia where the band originated and are based.

Witchcraft released a full album "Cinema" in March of 2018 featuring 17 breathtaking tracks along with two videos.   Witchcraft have been creating solid music since forming in 2005 and then released their debut "The Voice From the Inside" independently in 2008.  By 2011 they released an amazing follow up titled "Ash" on Ravenheart Music out of England.  In addition to being the center of the band Angel has co-authored a new book on horror.  "Oh, I like movie and I like horror films so much, Angel said.   I decided to create an album with such an atmosphere that you can feel in movies – mystic and dark. So, I was inspired of music from some films and I used some characters and some pieces of music for creating metaphorical world of different images and characters. And I described love and loneliness through these metaphors."

Beneath the mask of Witchcraft with with the image, outfits, makeup, production and videos, lead vocalist Liudmila Angel insists that the band members are just ordinary people who create something special.  "If this world can hear me it should know that I'm an ordinary person without much money but with the big dream. I'm not as talented as others, I'm not a unique person but I have a dream and I've been following it for many years. My way is very hard but if I can follow it, it means that others can do it too. I give them a hope! The world should know that I’m an ordinary person like you and your neighbor but I have a dream. My dream leads me. I want to express my emotions with the help of music and lyrics, so I want to be a person who always does what she wants. And I want to feel happiness to choose this way, to follow this way. I’m a happy person cause I have an opportunity to make music, to write horror stories and etc. and with the help of these things to communicate with the whole world!  The very wrong thing is to think that we are commercial band and cause of it we have beautiful photo shoots, video clips and high quality of recordings. It is false information. We can create something new with the help of our friends and fans all over the world. They help us so many times. And their love gives me the power to go further. We have no big labels, no producers, no bosses, we are free to do what we want but for any recording and shoot we have to pay, and our fans help us! It is amazing!"

For Angel, Witchcraft has been a dream come true as she always wanted to realize having a band and creating music of her own.  It is this dream and her inspiration to create new music that has pushed her forward in the music world.  She credits Amy of Evenscense as a major inspiration for her career in music. "When I was 18 I watched  Evanescence on Mtv, Amy was so different and so amazing, and I decided to make a rock band. I wanted to play and perform music! And my dream came true! When I was a teenager I liked Nightwish very much. And I didn't think that one day I will perform my music on one stage with Tarja Turunen. It is so breathtakingly!"

 Angel formed the band with the inspiration of Evencense who she aspired to.  "One day I watched Amy Lee from Evanescence on Mtv, she was gorgeous and not like others singers on TV, she was so unusual and her voice too. And I decided that I want to be like she was. Amy Lee is my inspiration in creating a rock band."

 

"My band is my world; our music is the mixture of alternative metal and dark Gothic elements. We try to express emotions with the help of music. The main theme is the loneliness and the attempt to find a soul that will understand you."   With the feelings of loneliness and darkness, Angel relates their music to others who have this inside.  "I write about real emotions and feeling but with the help of metaphors. "Cause of it you can find very dark and Gothic images that show any form of loneliness or pain. I want to say that you are not alone there is in the world one person who understands what you feel it’s me."

While Angel and Witchcraft have put together a long run in music she feels her best is yet to come and continues to follow her motivation to create and branch off into different creative fields, and has overcome a lot of barriers along the way living in Russia where getting support can be difficult to find, but support has been keeping her dreams alive from the support received abroad. "Russian people want everything for free: music, movies, soft, pictures, books and etc. If you want to sell your music nowadays you should know that in Russia nobody wants to support you. Our albums in Russian but foreigners buy them better than Russian fans because of our mentality."

Angel is doing all possible to continue her dream in music and overcome all the obstacles facing her and Witchcraft but continues to keep her dreams in full force out of her deep spirit and commitment.  "We created CINEMA, it includes 17 songs and we shot two best videos: Silent Hill and Requiem, and I published 3 of my books. I think that the best thing I've ever feel is to realize that I can do it! I suppose that my best song and album is in the Future and my best video too!"

"I hope that we will have an opportunity to see the world and to play concerts in different countries. I want a tour in Europe, in US, Japan and Latin America. And also I hope that one day somebody who has the power will listen to our music and say: “They are pretty good, I want to help them to change the story!”
