If you’re a fan of the rap game, get used to A$ap Rocky because he’s going to be a major player for the foreseeable future. The Harlem rapper, whose real name is Rakim Mayers , arrived on the scene in 2011 with mix tape, "Live Love ASAP." It is safe to say he has blown up with his newest release “Long Live A$ap”, attracting some of the biggest names in the hip hop scene to appear on his newest album. Boasting such artists as Drake, Kendrick Lamar in his single “F****n Problems” along with songs from top producers Danger Mouse and Skrillex. The most interesting guest appearance on the album came from Florence Welch from Florence and the Machine. Overall it’s an ode to the finer things in life that A$ap enjoys so much.
His success has brought him to a whole new level of fame surrounded by lots of women and money, and he lets you know it. His cool, nonchalant bravado displays well and keeps the songs somewhat down to Earth. The album landed A$ap Rocky at the #1 position on Billboard’s Hot 200. Not too shabby of a start for the young 24 year old rapper’s career. Rocky’s fame is truly a testament to the power of the internet, starting out as a YouTube sensation gathering millions of hits on his videos earning him ultimately being signed to a multi-record, multimillion dollar contract. Look for Rocky this Spring on tour with Rihanna, and later appearing at Bonnaroo Festival in Tennessee. A$ap Rocky is truly one of the hottest artists in the music scene today and he just got here. He’s on his way up still, and where it goes from here is anyone’s guess.
