Crazy XXX Girlfriend are not your typical band. More like a girl gang who rock out lead by Tracy X, the ringleader who does vocals and plays bass along with Kelsey X pounding the drums and Allie X powering the guitar chords. Inspired by STL’s burlesque scene, Tracy X decided to showcase her fury and sexy side in masterminding this mega babe band where these grrrls send a warning to the world: “Women, pick up an instrument and attack! Allie X brings out the claws with her attitude and guitar riffs like a rebelious wild child letting her inner Suzi Quatro out according to their bio. Kelsey rounds out the trio or lipstick killers with a natural talent for being an animal on the beat. Together the combination is original and killer as these women are on a mission to destroy all the myths you throw at them about being a female band as they carry a mean chip on their shoulders and plenty of rock and roll in their veins. They have been rocking for just over a
year formin in 2014 out of St. Louis, Missouri, mixing burlesque with rock and roll. Each member absorbed plenty of music growing up and were all performing at an early age and Kelsey is a classically trained flute player since age 7.
"We Rock...we want the world to witness our rock!" said Allie (aka Allie Cat). Burlesque was more the inspiration behind the band...we don't really consider ourselves burlesque so much as Risque Rock... in other words, we appreciate the aesthetics and performance, and sexiness of burlesque, and use it as an inspiration in coming up with the theatrics of our stage performance and our costumes."
Crazy XXX Girlfriend are influenced by old hard rock, Riot Grrrl and glam bands including Wendy O'Williams, Black Sabbath, The Runaways, Guns N' Roses, Pantera, Sleater-Kinney, Veruca Salt, Peaches, and Prince. They released the single Dick Magnet with Girz R Better.
"We want to create awesome, rockin' music that people can identify with and jam to. We want to evolve as a band, and see where the music can take us, but always keep it rockin'. As far as image: sex, drugs, and rock n' roll all the way...our stage personas are really
just an exaggerated version of our own personalities. We are trying to move towards incorporating
more theatrics, as far as choreography, and guest talent such as dancers, pyro, etc."
Catching Crazy XXX Girlfriend live one might think of shock rock. Allie said they may have to add a twist to provide the shock in this day in age. "Shock Rock, yes kind of, if anything still holds shock value in 2016. Aren't we all shocked out from the 80s? Our dream gig would involve a lot of lights, lazers, smoke, pyro, dancers, a crazy crowd, and really really loud rock n' roll music. Maybe someone tied up??? who knows?"
As for being called a girl band, do not overlook what these musicians can do warns Allie, "We think there aren't enough women rock bands...and we have a job to until it's not a gendered issue at all. Part of it has to do with childbirth honestly...but there's just a general lack of self esteem and gumption for women to pursue stuff like this...to pursue a life of rock isn't for everyone...but surely shouldn't be saved for just the guys. Would you ever say "check out this new all guy band"...no because all guy bands are the norm. A lot of people will want to write
us off instantly because they'll think we're a gimmick or a novelty...but honestly just listen to our music...
it's original and fun and rockin. Our image is only a part of it...and actually it's just for our own
fun entertainment...we need an outlet for our wild sides. Haters always gonna hate...but maybe folks should
listen to our music... a lot of our lyrics are really saying something of meaning. Sometimes we're just making
fun of stereotypes and the whole bs of the world."
You can expect plenty of great music to come from the band says Allie, "Ultimate rockage...duh. We want to record more music, shoot some rad videos, go on tour...just keep doin what we're doin but on a bigger and bigger level. also if we inspire one girl to pick up a guitar or drums or something then we did our job."
As for inspiration, Allie said, "Love, life, partying, bein rock n roll misfits....kelsey just wants to kill something with her drum sticks. I write about all kinds of stuff...a lot of the topics are super pro women...i have a minor in women's studies so i'm definitely sending a message with a lot of our songs. check out the lyrics to dick magnet and right hand man....(we're) high energy, entertaining, rockin and visually exciting...tits often out...aint nothin wrong with sex drugs and rock n roll. we put a lot of thought into our sets, considering the venue and other bands we're playing with...plus we always put a lot of effort into wearing cool, coordinated costumes. our live show is where it's at. we love to perform and feed off that energy from our fans."
As for advice to other girls who want to play, "Just fucking do it! Stop pussy-footing, go throw down."
