REBEL QUEENS

When it comes  to creating a high energy fem-fueled classic rock show The Rebel Queens have been performing since 2011 with  a great sound playing cover songs representing some of the best performers along the way hailing from Minneapolis, Minnesota. The girls actually started playing out live after only two weeks of practice and have not looked back since. The band formed around the members mutual love for the 1970′s all female rock band The Runaways as well as the glam punk/rock scene of the 70′s & 80′s. They re-create the sound of the era in their live shows and blow the roof off venues of all sizes with hard-hitting, dance-able rock and roll and mix in plenty of spandex (outfits).

"People should expect a fully charged rock show led by powerful vocals, screaming guitar solos, and wicked harmonies, says lead vocalist Tiffany Beamer.  We like to have a big party with the audience rather than just perform for them, so they should be ready to get down!"

Rebel Queens  come from the lyrics of a Runaways song, according to Beamer, "The name Rebel  Queens  comes from a lyric in the song “Dead End Justice” by The Runaways.  “Sweet 16, a rebel queen and I look real hot in my tight blue jeans.”  Plus it sounds like a motorcycle gang."
The Queens include  Beamer on lead vocals, Kelly Hooey on lead guitar, Danielle Pearson on drums/vocals, Kelsey Kaasa on bass, and Katie Lundberg o rhythm guitar/vocals.

The Queens site musical influences that includde Joan Jett, The Runaways, Cherie Currie, Debbie Harry, Lita Ford, Kathleen Hanna, Gwen Stefani, and Janis Joplin.  Others include David Bowie, Motley Crue, AC/DC and the Sex Pistols. " I really can’t say enough about those artists, Beamer said.  The Runaways really took a lot of shit and paved the way for women in rock and roll.  Each member of The Runaways was so incredibly talented individually that as a group, they really were the “fabulous five.”  Joan Jett specifically had this vision of what she wanted from when she was a teenager and then she just went and did it.  The Sex Pistols were awesome and the epitome of punk, it’s just too bad they weren’t able to put out more music.  David Bowie is a rock God and I can’t even begin touch on why he’s important.  Even his death was art.  Who does that???"

"I have always had a strong connection with rock and roll.  It must have started when I was only a year old and my mom took me to a Heart concert.   When I was younger, I sort of had this illusion that you had to be a beautiful singer with this huge vocal range and it just seemed impossible.   I had always loved Joan Jett, but heard very little of The Runaways.  When I saw The Runaways movie and explored more of their music and story, it really inspired me and I felt empowered to be whatever kind of singer I wanted to be."

You can expect plenty of great songs coming from the Rebel Queens says Beamer. "Some goals I have for the band is to have fun, work hard, and keep evolving.  We have over 3 hours of music, mostly classic rock/punk/glam cover songs, and we really enjoy making them our own. I hope to continue playing shows for people that really dig what we’re doing.  I feel accomplished when people really engage in the live shows, whether they’re dancing around or just having a good time.  As a live band, that’s really as good as it gets."

While the Queens were created covering other bands material after five years are now in the process of creating their own songs.  "We actually just released a single called “Waiting Up For You” that can be found on iTunes and various digital music retailers.  We released the single along with a kick ass music video that we are super proud of.   The band also recently started performing an original tune called “Wings of Darkness” that’s a little more metal.  We plan to dabble a little more in original music this year, but will always be mainly a cover band that plays a full night of music.  The goals for Rebel Queens in 2016 are to expand our show, gain more fans, and maintain the same lineup.  We have had the same band members for two years now and it would be great to see what we can continue to accomplish together."
