Beware---the Black Widows are going to find you and inject you with a dose of their music that will have you under their spell.  It’s music that is rock and roll filled with surfy, moody guitars and gritty bass lines topped off with sassy girl group harmonies.  A live show is not to be missed as they combine their music with a show that includes the BW Go Go Dancers and singers.  The band is from Minneapolis and includes Pamela on bass and vocals; Corinne on guitar and vocals, Tanya on drums and Sara on guitar, keys percussion and hotdog.   According to the band, their sound is a combination of surf, punk, soul, dull-core and Halloween sound effects mixed with vaudeville and tequila.

The band was formed with “Dreams of an all girl rock and roll band,” said Pamela.  It was something each of us needed to do”.  For Corrinne it was a combination of Barbie and the Rockers and Jem and the Holograms.  Sarah said, “Halloween and hula hoops.”

 

 

The Black Widows just released a new double-single this week (July 3rd)  called March of the Human Hotdog with Escape to Tortuga Island on their own label. 

 

“We have a double-single release coming out July 3rdcalled “March of the Human Hotdog” This is our song march to take down top dog, Mr. President Wiener, said Corrinne. The b-side is dedicated to our eventual “Escape to Tortuga Island” once we take this Human Hotdog down. Don’t come looking… you’ll never leave the island ALIVE! President Wiener inspired the songs and yes Escape to Tortuga Island is our escape from thinking about politics for a while. It’s a chill, groovy, summer track for kickin’ back!”

Pamela said, “We’re releasing a double-single called "March of the Human Hotdog/Escape to Tortuga Island." We're releasing it ourselves. MotHH is inspired by current events and dedicated to Mr. President Wiener. Maybe you know him. Tortuga Island is our vacation song. We play that when we don't want to think about real life.”

 

“President Wiener is trying to brainwash all of us into willingly becoming his mignon hotdogs to be consumed by his already well-fed cohorts, said Corrinne. He especially loves to manipulate the vulnerable, needy underdogs and we won’t stand for it! We think he went east back to D.C. because no one would believe he would actually be there working in his big White House. We are taking Hastings 3000, equipped with gas mask, to help us take this dog down using his expertise on “Invasive Species” We will find that Human Hotdog and feed him to the poor!” 

 

“The human hotdog is actually a hotdog pretending to be a man, Pamela says. He's deceptive and evil. If we find him, we'll eat him. (It should be noted that Pamela, Corinne, and Sarah are all vegetarians and will not, under any circumstances, actually eat a hotdog. Unless it's made of tofu.)”

 

“We seek the human Hotdog for consumption.  We are hungry. Even though we are vegetarians, we don’t consider his orange flesh meat and we care a lot less about evil humans. Economically it makes sense to feed him back to the people. He can feed a lot of people.”  “We seek the human Hotdog for consumption”. said Sarah.
