MAXIMUM MAXINE ROCKS ON

BACK TO THE GARDEN

MADAM x

MaXine is rocking in 2013 with a new release in Back to the Garden and ready to get on the concert trail.  As the bass player she is joined by Rachel May on guitar, Bryan Paxton on bass and Pat DeLeon on drums.  Petrucci has been performing for over 30 years with her own band MaXine, Madam X during the 80’s which included Sebastian Bach and Bret Kaiser; and in the early 90’s played in an all-girl band Hell’s Belles’.  She also played in Vixen for a year along with her sister Roxy who played drums.  She released her first solo record Titania in 2005 which included Billy Sheehan on bass for the title track.  Back to the Garden was released earlier this year which includes a new video for the track Assassinate.

It is no small feat for Petrucci to have stayed so active for over three decades, which she credits, “That I am a true artist that continues to create, write, practice, and perform continuously. Been through highs and lows and still prevail. Longevity is paying major dues throughout the years and never giving up no matter what because of the true love of music, not the business. Staying healthy helps too 'knock on wood'.”

Coming out of the Detroit music scene was also a factor as it exposed her to a great talent pool and vibrant music scene that helped inspire her along with her father who bought her an instrument to get into music.  “My Father bought me a flute to start playing during elementary school then for my 12th birthday he bought me a classical guitar and I started lessons on both instruments. Roxy was playing clarinet in school band and then  we saw the all-girl rock band called 'Fanny' perform live on an International rock show on TV and we went into awe and shock that women could jam like men and I looked at Roxy and said "bass or drums" and the rest is history. We fell in love with Patti Quatro's band called 'Cradle' they were all girls that seriously jammed and rocked!! Suzi Quatro's solo band rocked and she played that bass better than the guys!  My father wanted me to play classical guitar as a second instrument to flute, so he bought me a guitar and I started lessons which led to learning and loving rock music. It was the start of the power of playing rock guitar which I think scared my parents.

Petrucci was on hand to see her music idols receive a lifetime award in Detroit in April. “We caught The Quatro Sisters (Pleasure Seekers and Cradle) live for the first time at The 2012 Detroit Music Awards and they shook the whole building with there awesome show. We just saw Suzi Quatro at The 2013 Detroit Music Awards and she tore it up and they all proved that music is pure talent and ageless and lives on forever!”

ASSASSINATE--MAXINE

Petrucci has many great memories but said that getting signed with Madam X stands out.  “Back in Madam X when we first got to Hollywood and eventually discovered and signed by Don Arden (Sharon Osbournes dad) and his label Jet Records, was such a gratifying ultimate high for us. Usually in the music business you are either related or know someone to get hooked up and we were just suburban kids from Metro Detroit that dedicated hard work and paying dues on the road with our 4 piece band and semi-tractor trailer of sound system, lights, stage ect.,  and 10 man road crew that we made happen, to getting a major record contract! No American Idol and stuff like that!”

One can never learn enough; just keep practicing, lots of memorizing involved so need to stay sharp and healthy. I still practice my flute too and am performing flute on a track on my new album called 'Wicked'. My brother Remo wrote the flute part for this song that I wrote, Ian Anderson would love this track.

Petrucci will be performing May 18th at the Detroit Pub in Clinton TWP, Michigan for a Dio Trio Tirube and Cancer fundraiser along with her sister Roxy and Rachel May. “Rachel will be singing and playing bass, with Roxy on drums and me on guitar. My band MaXine will also do another video this spring. We will also be playing Festivals and Shows here in Metro Detroit area.”
