LITA FORD IS BACK TO ROCK!!!
Please salute Lita Ford as it is written in the halls of rock and roll--for those about to rock…which is what Living Like a Runaway does and she was born to do. Bow to the queen. In addition to her solo career which spans over 30 years, being a Runaway, and a female guitar player who has proved everyone wrong (girls can’t play guitar), Lita been immortalized in film with The Runaways movie, included in Xbox, and has a special Black Widow Warlock edition guitar by BC Rich Guitars.
Lita is the queen of rock and roll and returns with a vengeance in 2012 with a new album and tour. “Living Like A Runaway” is the title of her new record on SPV/Steamhammer records. Ford is touring on the Rock of Ages tour with Def Leppard and Poison that is stretching across the United States into mid September. The tour stops into Cleveland Friday at Quicken Loans Arena. In addition she is mixing in one-off dates and making in-store appearances along the way.
Living Like a Runaway marks her first album since Black in 1995 as a true Lita album. The title track “Living Like a Runaway” is not only a reflection of her days with the Runaways but carries the double meaning revolving around her struggles in the divorce from Jim Gillette. She worked with producer Gary Hoey and songwriter Michael Dan Ehmig and added some guitar work from Nikki Six (Motley Crew) and Doug Aldrich (Whitesnake).
“Everything in me, you know, says Lita you were born to play guitar, you were born to rock, you were born to play rock and roll music no matter how hard I tried, or how screwed up things may have gotten, It always goes back to Lita, play guitar, Lita Rock. It always goes back to that. It really is obviously my calling and that goes without saying, and it is really what “Living Like A Runaway” , the song is about, it goes through decades of music, it goes to my mother telling me, “go Lita, go, Rock , and I remember riding in a black limousine when I was 17 with the Runaways and even today I can still hear my fans, run baby run, you know?”
LIVING LIKE A RUNAWAY
Lita returns to what she does best--playing guitar and creating rock and roll giving her fans an album that delivers a solid punch of rock and roll with intensity, emotion, and feeling. There is plenty of great guitar riffs and fist pumping music for rock and metal fans to embrace as well.
“Yes there is a lot of anger on this album, said Ford. It is an aggressive record. We are not pussy footing around on this record and I think there is a lot more hatred in this world.”
While Lita lets loose with a fury of ferocious rock and roll, it is a reflection on her life drama that sets her new material off with plenty of lightning capturing an angry world we all live in. “ I find that now more as an adult and just daily road rage and so much big city aggression of everything to the line in the grocery store, I mean, it is like, God, why be so angry people, like, chill out… so, it just made me write a song called Hate, like with the Columbine shootings, and 9/11 and all of these horrible things, and like all of these things happening overseas, like my God, what is everybody thinking?”
The LP includes hard rockers like Branded, Hate, and Relentless which features a killer guitar solo by Hoey. Luv 2 Hate You has a U2 guitar sound. She let’s the world know that Lita is back with her version of Elton John’s The Bitch is Back, a bonus track on the CD.
The Runaways lore continues to grow and go down in history and keep Ford busy on Facebook as the legendary rocker finds the interest heart warming. “It is awesome. It is just awesome! I go onto my Facebook and it is just loaded with Runaways pictures. They are just emerging from the ashes and I go “wow, I remember that, LOL” It is really amazing. I look at that page and it really lights up. It is one e-mail after another, it is one comment after another. It is so wonderful. Ad I just will sit there and watch it and will get on early morning and get back with a few choice fans and they all respond so they know that I am on my Facebook page early morning and everybody throws in their photographs and their comments and they go back so many years there are some who have some choice pictures of the Runaways and choice Lita pictures and it is just really cool.
Well, now, the runaways made history. They are a part of rock and roll history and I am really honored to be a part of that. For Runaways fans, Ford did reach out to former members including Cherie Currie and Joan Jett about doing a reunion with remaining band members. Sandy West passed away from cancer. It was the first time that Ford and Jett met since 1980.

Lita has left her mark on rock and roll and Cleveland, as I remember first seeing her play with the Runaways at the Cleveland Agora back in 1976 and 77. “Cleveland is, let me tell you, there are a lot of places in Cleveland that have my name written under a few coats of paint, yeah, I love Cleveland.”
