KAPRIOLA DELIVER HEAVY SOUND FROM CZECH REPUBLIC

Kapriola rock out of the small town of Ostrava in Czechoslovokia taking their name from a sign in that town of a horse doing the kapriola. They are out to show that they are four women who can rock and challenge the barriers with their musical creativity and talent and ability to play with sonic power that reflects their influences which go from Deep Purple to Megadeth.

The band includes Dona Michelle on guitar and violin, Barue on bass, Mercy on drums and Marqui on lead vocals.  Michelle said, “We are four young and good looking women full of energy, well - balanced attitudes, cheeky guitar riffs, with great inner interplay and harmony overall.”

“For me it has always been a priority to have a female band - it is something a bit different, said Michaela. There are lots of girls' bands everywhere and I didn't want to have a band like this - I wanted to have a band, which can play and is instrumentally on higher level. That's what makes the girl band attractive to others. So I decided to form a female band and to find the female musicians to join me. It took over 8 years but it was worth doing it and keeping the band existing in various resemblances.”

Bonding together with other women and finding the right chemistry was not an easy task according to Michaela.  But, the wait paid off as the combination of the right players has really helped take the band to new heights as they just released a new CD this past summer.  “As you know, we are four women. We all wanted to play hard heavy and it took "ages" to find right people into band (= to find ourselves, 'cause it’s hard to find a good and un-quarrelsome drummer-woman. Now it’s everything fine. We are fully satisfied and we do what we like. The best moments we have are when people came and tell you, that they like your music a lot and they want your CD. Even though we are women we have no disputes, because we have the same target - play, play, play.”

“Well, we want to rebuild the sound a little bit and maybe approach the modern metal style (the sound and some features of our favourite bands). For me it's a challenge to combine styles within our best possibilities, musically and technically, and of course keep the status quality female band with a non - women sound.”

Kapriola are taking their music to the world and believe in what they do.  “Above everything - we want to play and keep rocking.  We would like to be distinguishable by the sound. We also want to exceed the boundary of our region and of our country.  Want to have fans all over the world.”
