Witchcraft are an intense gothic metal rock band on the rise and ready to take the world by storm. They have an amazing sound of dark progressive metal with an excellent image drawing on the dark side evoking an eerie presence with Angel on vocals along with Kate on violin, Harunar on guitar, Vladimir on bass, Max on drums and Alexander as DJ. Their sound is akin to Evenescence, Nightwish and Dream Theatre and one that will capture you right away as they execute the dual sounds to perfection in a well-produced manner.
The band formed in 2005 and released its debut “The Voice From the Inside” independently in 2008. The second release is an amazing album, titled Ash, which was released in 2010 by Ravenheart Music out of England.
Witchcraft is about to release a new album this month (March) titled “7”which includes ten songs.
There are 10 songs about sins, inner wars, emotions and loneliness. It is like the escapism from the reality. We create unusual dark worlds with dead trees and cold water, and we call for everyone to follow us,” explains lead vocalist Angel.
FROM RUSSIA WITH WITCHCRAFT
While most people reading about Witchcraft are in the United States and worldwide, Angel says that Russia for making music is still a dream. All the stories of any rock bands are not so different. I had a dream... When you are living in such a country as Russia, you have not so many chances to be a musician, an artist or a writer. You are a part of the system: no dreams, no future, no any colors except gray... So, if you have a dream you should live for this dream, should breathe for it.
I had a dream to be a rock musician, my dream came true. My band is my family and my life. I'd like to earn enough money by music. This is another dream.”
While many bands have to face the struggles of working day jobs and struggling to get gigs here, in Russia the obstacles are greater. Imagine not finding a good label or any promotion available. We have a lot of bands but no music managers or producers
Oh, we have a lot of rock and metal bands but we have not so many rock-stars as in other countries. If you want to have any success you should have much money or .... No variants (options) at all. There are no good Russian metal-labels, they only released CD's without any PR and local commercial, and there are no rock and metal stations to which you can offer your song. No metal music business at all. All Russian bands want to sign a contract abroad.”
We are ordinary guys and girls without any producers or big contracts but we want to be musicians and show our music to the whole world. We like to compose music, to make clips and we are happy to have such an opportunity to communicate with our listeners all over the world.
