DIRTY PANTIES
You are not going to find the Dirty Panties at your local laundromat because they play in night clubs and are a group that will rock your socks off with solid punk rock. The Dirty Panties are a four peace band that are living out their dream and doing what they do best--playing music from their heart and souls and doing it with pure passion and energy. The band formed in 2001 in New York City when friends decided to follow their passion and create their own brand of music. They relocated to Las Vegas and have been a main stay their and going strong signing to Squidhat Records in 2012 and releasing their debut LP 'I Am A Robot".
The Dirty Panties have plenty in store for the year with new writing, recording, releasing a new LP and touring in the works.
The band features Barbara Lenox on guitar, Melanie Ash on lead vocals, Michelle "Lil'Moe" Meyer on bass and Kayley "Animal" Malcolm on drums. The band has toured extensively in the Southwest and become a must see act. They play and continue to be based out of Las Vegas.
Living and being in the New York City music scene provided plenty of inspiration and influence to play. It was a mutual love for music and the desire to take this passion to the stage that brought the band together. "We love music . We like to spend time together creating music and we have fun creating and performing our music. Our love for listening to music and attending local shows was our inspiration for starting a band. We were just a group of friends that spent time together and decided one day to create our own band. We started the band originally before we could even play our instruments. "
The band is one not to be looked at as some novelty act as they are serious about their music and about performing and having been together for over 15 years shows their committment and dedication towards this. "That we are serious about our music. We spend a lot of time writing music and make sure the songs are exactly how we want them before playing them for other people. We are all all female band, but we are not a novelty act."
The Dirty Panties play with a tight sound and great attitude and pump plenty of feeling into their performances. "Our attitude falls somewhere between punk rock aggressive and poetic interpretive dance… Our music is often described by others at poppy-punk. We have shit to say and music to play and want to share our music with others."
Keeping their vibe going comes from within and they show no signs of slowing down. "We have never seen our band as a business. We are just doing what we love and letting the rest fall into place. Its fun. You can be yourself and express yourself. It allows for opportunities to meet new people, hear new music and have different experiences."
And for advice to others and maintaining your band, "Be friends first. Listen to each other’s ideas and suggestions, embrace each other’s differences."
You can find the Dirty Panties online at Facebook and on Youtube. Be sure to get their album and get dirty with their music. They are a band you need to experience and see live if you have the opportunity.
