HEAVY TIGER
DELIVERING HIGH VOLTAGE ROCK AND ROLL
Heavy Tiger are on a mission to rock the world with true sounds of hard-edged music that will capture your heart and soul. They play high voltage rock and roll. The all female line up out of Stockholm, Sweden play classic inspired hard rock direct from the 70s including the likes of Thin Lizzy, KISS, AC/DC, Stones, The Who, and The Clash. They formed in 2010 at the ages of 17 and are about to release their second LP in 2016. They include Maja Linn on guitar and vocals, Sara Frendin on bass, and Astrid Carsbring on drums. The band released their first CD last year along with a video and are back ready to deliver fresh new material in the new year.
As far as Heavy Tiger goes, the band members are committed and dedicated to delivering rock and roll music as a way of life. They are not playing music for a hobby but aspiring for a career in the music business. “All of us grew up with music in our homes, so it was a natural thing
to pick up an instrument and start playing, said Maja. The band was formed when I wanted to start a kick ass rock n roll band with the right ambitions. I used to play in another band where the other members weren't as dedicated as she, so she decided to find some other people to rock out with. That we are an all female band isn't something that was forced from the start. I found two girls that shared her passion, and that's it. It has nothing to do with gender. The goal was simply to form a really cool rock n roll act – great music, an awesome show and a lot of fun. There are so many metal bands forming in Sweden these days, so we're here to make a change! More rock n roll to the people!”
Heavy Tiger have been not only releasing music and doing videos but achieving their rock and roll dreams including playing abroad as they keep setting new goals each year. “Every New years eve, we make up new goals for the band, to make sure we don't get stuck doing nothing. One of our earliest goals was to play abroad, and it didn't take long before we got a Finnish booker, Toni, who had us play with the Flaming Sideburns at Tavastia, Helsinki. That gig was a dream come true, especially for myself who grew up with their music, Maja said. It was also the first time we got to experience the true rock n roll spirit of the Finnish audience, and we love it every time we get back there. The latest big accomplishment would be the 5-week tour we did last fall (2014), on which we went to Spain, Portugal, Japan and Vietnam. We had a lot of fun, but it was also a lot of hard work, especially since two of the Tigers had a bad cold for almost the entire tour, making it hard to sing. That didn't stop us though, 'cause when one tiger loses it's voice, another one roars even louder! We want to be able to work with our music full-time, and to reach out and touch as many as possible with our music.”
In 2014 Heavy Tiger released their debut Siagon Kiss on High Roller Records along with a video for the title song. “We recorded the album in the Gutterview studio with Fred Estby, Mija said. He's a great guy, and he knew what sound we were looking for. Everything went according to plans, and the album was recorded in less than a week. It contains nine songs - the perfect length - and since our motto during the selection process was 'no fillers, just killers', each song truly deserves its place. The video for 'Saigon Kiss' is completely DIY. We did everything ourselves; the filming, arranging, styling, editing etc.. It is actually recorded in our living room.”
Heavy Tiger come into the New Year with new goals and new ambitions and plenty of heat to melt the ice this winter with their intense rock and roll. “At the time we're writing new kickass songs for the upcoming album, which will be released this year. We've just started working with Live Nation in Sweden, so hopefully we can soon announce some great gigs for this summer and fall! Also, new stage outfits are coming up.”
