RUNAWAYS RENION???

QUEENS OF NOISE IN 2014?

Reunion news is always welcome in music journalism.  It ignites a buzz throughout the media and the rock industry.  Over the past couple of years one band that has been making near brushes with a reunion has been the Runaways who included Joan Jett, Lita Ford, Cherie Currie, Jackie Fox and the late Sandy West.  OK, well without West a true reunion is no longer a possibility, but getting the remaining members on stage together is and has never been achieved since the band split in 1980.  In fact Jett and Ford had not met in person since 2012 when the two got together for dinner in New York.

Currie and Jett performed together in 2010 upon the release of the Runaways film based on Currie’s bestselling book Neon Angel.  In late breaking news, Currie and Ford were in the studio together as Cherie provided her vocals on a track for Ford’s upcoming album.  Visit Currie’s Facebook page and new photos of Cherie and Lita are up as the two were together posing with former Runaways manager Kim Fowley.   Different reports have been floating about with offers on the table in excess of three million dollars for a reunion with at least ten shows across America.  Of course, with Jett’s touring schedule and limited time along with Lita and Currie all doing their own respective touring, pulling it off looks like a long shot.  For all Runaways fans around the world—there is at least a glimmer of hope and with enough support—a possibility to hold out hope that it comes together.

In fact Currie has teamed up with Ford for recording on her new album doing a Christmas song and photos are surfacing on her Facebook page together with former Runaways manager Kim Fowley.  Currie has been touring this year playing several Runaways songs to rave response and has been in support of doing a reunion.

Unfortunately the passing of drummer Sandy West to cancer in 2006 makes a true reunion possible, but a possibility for remaining members is a possibility.
